GOVERNOR APPOINTS AUGUST 20 AS ELECTION DAY
Friday, 29 June – In accordance with section 118 of the of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007, and at the request of the Chief Minister, His Excellency the Governor, David Pearey, has appointed Monday, 20 August 2007 as the date of the next general election.

In accordance with the constitution, a proclamation making this appointment has been published today in the Virgin Islands Official Gazette.

Note:
Legislative Council was dissolved on Friday, 15 June 2007.
Section 118 of the Constitution Order states that a general election shall be held within three months, but not earlier than 21 days, of the dissolution of the Legislative Council.
