IMPROVEMENT WORKS ON SEA COWS BAY DRAINAGE STARTS TODAY
Wednesday, July 4 – The Ministry of Communications and Works has awarded eight petty contracts for the installation of drainage improvement in Sea Cows Bay for a combined cost of $300,347.40.

The works will be carried out in several phases with the first phase beginning today with earth works in the Porter Ghut area.  The contract for Phase One was awarded to Mr. Verne Forbes for $9,846.00.

Minister for Communications and Works Hon. Elmore Stoutt said the work is being done to improve the drainage problem in that area.  “It is important that all drains in the Territory are improved especially now that we are in the Atlantic Hurricane Season.  By ensuring that the drains are improved, we are ensuring that persons and property are safe,” Minister Stoutt added.

To facilitate the work, the road leading to Porter Ghut opposite to the Valarie O. Thomas Community Centre will be closed between the hours of 9:30 a. m. and 3:00 p.m. from Wednesday, July 4 to Friday, July 6.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to travel with caution in the area and to adhere to all traffic and road signs.

The improvement of the drainage in Sea Cows Bay is in keeping with Government’s commitment to continually strengthen the infrastructure in the Territory.
